{"id":47,"date":"2008-11-07T13:18:10","date_gmt":"2008-11-07T18:18:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/?page_id=47"},"modified":"2015-05-23T18:50:37","modified_gmt":"2015-05-23T22:50:37","slug":"art","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/?page_id=47","title":{"rendered":"Art"},"content":{"rendered":"<h3>Schlogel Archive at the Koffler Gallery:<\/h3>\n<p>Martha brings to life her most recent book, The Search for Heinrich Schl\u00f6gel, through a multi-media installation. \u2026\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kofflerarts.org\/exhibitions\/2014\/09\/16\/erratics\/\" target=\"_blank\">more&gt;<\/a><\/p>\n<h3><\/h3>\n<h3>The Search Heinrich Schlogel &#8212; composed:<\/h3>\n<p>In 2013, the remarkable Canadian composer, <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Nic_Gotham\">Nic Gotham<\/a>, who lived from September 1959 to July 2013, was commissioned to write a ten-minute work in response to the manuscript of The Search for Heinrich Schl\u00f6gel. He selected as instrumentation: clarinet, piano, cello, and percussion. It became his final work, and was completed in Kensington Hospice. It is being played for you by cellist Paul Widner, pianist Stephen Clarke, clarinetist Bob Stephenson, and percussionist Rick Sacks who is also the artistic director of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arraymusic.com\" target=\"_blank\">Array Music<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>The Schl\u00f6gel Archive, including Gotham\u2019s music, performed and recorded by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.arraymusic.com\" target=\"_blank\">Array Music<\/a>, will be \u201cinstalled\u201d in the\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/kofflerarts.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Koffler Gallery<\/a>, Toronto, in Spring 2015.<\/p>\n<p>Images are a few of over 700 postcards collected by Martha, inscribed with the text of her novel, mailed to over 70 friends who in turn read the text into an online archive at <a href=\"http:\/\/schlogel.ca\" target=\"_blank\">schlogel.ca<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" src=\"\/\/player.vimeo.com\/video\/104551664\" width=\"500\" height=\"281\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<h3>Core Sample:<\/h3>\n<p>The novel, <a href=\"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/cover_shape_sm.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-75\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"cover_shape_sm\" src=\"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/cover_shape_sm.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"58\" height=\"80\" \/><\/a> bound and published tells one story,\u00a0 the manuscript another. \u00a0 One Saturday, I woke, <a href=\"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/core_hole.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"core_hole\" src=\"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/core_hole-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"108\" height=\"80\" \/><\/a> wondering how many rings of growth would be revealed, if I were to drill a core sample\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/core_stacks.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"size-medium wp-image-66 alignnone\" style=\"border: 1px solid black;\" title=\"core_stacks\" src=\"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/core_stacks-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"107\" height=\"80\" srcset=\"https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/core_stacks-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/marthabaillie.ca\/wp-content\/uploads\/2008\/11\/core_stacks.jpg 480w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 107px) 100vw, 107px\" \/><\/a> from my manuscript.
